چکیده

Reaction of cis-diazidobis(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III)nitrate with ammonium thiocyanate in a 1 : 2 molar ratio in aqueous medium gave the title cobalt(III) compound, cis-[Co(en)2(N3)2]SCN, as reddish brown crystals in almost quantitative yield. The complex salt was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic, H and C NMR spectroscopic studies. An X-ray structure determination revealed an ionic structure with the monoclinic space group P21/c, having cell dimensions a1⁄4 12.1950(6), b1⁄4 9.0317(5), c1⁄4 12.6017(7) Å; 1⁄4 113.419(1) , V1⁄4 1273.63(12) Å and Z1⁄4 4. The structure was refined by a full-matrix least-square procedures to R11⁄4 0.0297 and wR21⁄4 0.0697.

Why is there an "inert" metal center in the active site of nitrile hydratase? Reactivity and ligand dissociation from a five-coordinate Co(III) nitrile hydratase model.

To determine how a substitutionally inert metal can play a catalytic role in the metalloenzyme nitrile hydratase (NHase), a reactive five-coordinate Co(III) thiolate complex ([Co(III)(S(2)(Me2)N(3)(Pr,Pr))](PF(6)) (1)) that resembles the active site of cobalt containing nitrile hydratase (Co NHase) was prepared. This was screened for reactivity, by using low-temperature electronic absorption sp...

Second sphere coordination complexes via hydrogen bonding: Synthesis, spectroscopic characterisation of [trans-Co(en)2Cl2]CdX4 (XZBr or I) and single crystal X-ray structure determination of [trans-Co(en)2Cl2]CdBr4

In an effort to explore [trans-Co(en)2Cl2] C as anion receptor for tetrabromocadmate and tetraiodocadmate ion, green coloured single crystals of [trans-Co(en)2Cl2]CdBr4 I and [trans-Co(en)2Cl2]CdI4 II have been obtained by slowly mixing the separately dissolved transdichlorobis(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III) chloride with potassium tetrabromocadmate and tetraiodocadmate in aqueous medium in 2:1 mo...

A Co(III) complex in a mixed sulfur/nitrogen ligand environment: modeling the substrate- and product-bound forms of the metalloenzyme thiocyanate hydrolase.

Thiocyanate hydrolase (TCH) is a pink bacterial metalloenzyme found in Thiobacillus thioparus THI 115 that catalyzes the conversion of thiocyanate to carbonyl sulfide and ammonia.1,2 Although TCH has not been well characterized spectroscopically, an analysis of the genes encoding for the enzyme has shown a high active-site sequence homology to the metalloenzyme nitrile hydratase (NHase), includ...

One-dimensional Uranium(VI) Coordination Polymer Complex Containing Dimethyl and Trimethyl Phosphate Ligands: Synthesis, Spectroscopic Characterization, Thermal Analyses, and Crystal Structure

A new one-dimensional uranium(VI) coordination polymer, [UO2(μ-DMP)2(TMP)]n (1) (DMP is dimethyl phosphate and TMP is trimethyl phosphate), was prepared from the reaction of UO2(NO3)2.6H2O and TMP in in THF (THF is tetrahydrofuran) as a solvent. Suitable crystals of this complex for crystal structure determination were obtained by slow evaporation of the produced yellow solution at room tempera...

Synthetic aspects, crystal structures and antibacterial activities of manganese(III) and cobalt(III) complexes containing a tetradentate Schiff base

Three new Schiff base complexes, namely [Mn(L)Cl] H2O (1), [Co(L)Cl]2 2CH3COCH3 (2) and [Co(L)NCS]2 (3), where H2L = 2,2 0-[propane-1,2-diylbis(nitriloeth-1-yl-1-ylidene)]diphenol, have been prepared and characterized. The syntheses of 1 and 2 have been achieved by reacting equimolar amounts of the respective metal chloride and the tetradentate Schiff base ligand (H2L). While the mononuclear Mn...
